Product Description
Moving-Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) is another innovative biofilm
reactor that has been paid much attention by researchers in recent
years. It is developed by the complicated operation of fluidizing
the carrier, clogging the submerged biological filter, cleaning the
filter material and replacing the aerator.
The basic design idea of MBBR is to be able to operate
continuously, without clogging, without backwashing, with small
head loss and large specific surface area. This can be achieved by
growing biofilms on smaller support units that move freely with the
water
flow in the reactor. In aerobic reactors, the carrier is moved by
aeration; in anoxic/anaerobic reactors, the carrier is moved by
mechanical stirring. In order to prevent the loss of packing in the
reactor, a porous filter can be installed at the outlet of the
reactor (Figure 1). MBBR is generally a cuboid or cylindrical
structure. The cuboid-shaped reactor is evenly divided into several
grids or no grids along the length direction of the tank with a
partition. Overall, the water flow in the reactor is in a plug flow
state, and in each cell, the water flow is in a fully mixed state
due to aeration fluidization. The tank is filled with polyethylene
or polypropylene suspended fillers with a specific gravity close to
water and a large specific surface area. The
biofilm attachment surface in the reactor can reach 500m2/m3, and
the actual specific surface area (the inner surface of the filler)
can reach 350m2/m3. The perforated aeration tube aerates on one
side, so that the filler circulates in the pool.
